rack_environment

Rack environment is a small rack midelware that adds a message just after the body tag.

Usage

in environment.rb

config.middleware.use "RackEnvironment" do |env|
  env.define_environment(:staging   , lambda{ server_name =~ /^staging/ })
  env.define_environment(:dev       , lambda{ server_name == 'localhost'})

  env.append_to_body lambda{ |env_name|
    style = "width:100%;letter-spacing: 100%; white-space: nowrap; overflow:hidden; height: 15px; opacity: 0.8; position: fixed; z-index: 99999999; top: 0px; left: 0px;background: black; color: yellow; padding:5px; text-align:center;"

    "<div style='#{style}'>You are in #{env_name}</div>"

Syntax

config.middleware.use "RackEnvironment" do |env|
  env.define_environment(:environment_name, lamda { return true if this is the current_environment })

  env.append_to_body lambda { |env_name| 

    "This text will be appended just after <body> tag"
  }

Functions

Note on Patches/Pull Requests

  • Fork the project.

  • Make your feature addition or bug fix.

  • Add tests for it. This is important so I don’t break it in a future version unintentionally.

  • Commit, do not mess with rakefile, version, or history. (if you want to have your own version, that is fine but

    bump version in a commit by itself I can ignore when I pull)
