Rspec generate doc

This gem help you to generate simple documentation api from Rspec tests.

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'rspec_generate_doc'

And then execute:

$ bundle

Usage

Configure

# spec/rails_helper.rb
...
require 'rspec_generate_doc'
..
RspecGenerateDoc.configure do |config|
  config.docs_dir = 'path/to/docs/dir' # default: "#{Rails.root}/docs"
  config.locale = :ru # default: I18n.default_locale
  config.action_decorator = My::Cool::ActionDecorator # default: RspecGenerateDoc::Decorators::Action
  config.parameter_decorator = My::Cool::ParameterDecorator # default: RspecGenerateDoc::Decorators::Parameter
  config.template_file = '/path/to/my/template.api.erb' # default:  "#{File.dirname(__FILE__)}/templates/slate.md.erb"
  config.file_prefix = 'prefix_to_file_name_' # default:  '_'
  config.file_suffix = '_suffix_to_file_name' # default:  ''
end

Example use

# spec/controllers/user_controller_spec.rb
...
let(:api_params) do
  {
    id: { name: 'alternative id name', description: 'user id', required: true },
    email: { description: 'user email', required: 'if not id' }
  }
end
...

keys description: id | email - Parameter name. name - Parameter name. Default parameter key name. description - description parameter. Default parameter key name. required - is parameter required? If the value type is boolean it will be translated to default language. If the value type is string then return it value.

skip add to api description

...

context 'this case will be skipped' do
  let(:skip_this) {true}
  it(expect(true).to be true)
end
...

alternative name to file and menu

require 'rails_helper'

RSpec.describe UserController, type: :controller, api_name: 'alternative_name' do

result

After tests completed file _user_controller.md will be created in docs folder. In format to Slate
