My Gems
Stupid simple gem command to never install a gem again.
Use
Install:
gem install rubygems-mygems
Create your .gemfile:
gem dump
Commit it to your dotfiles.git, share, etc.. When you’re on a new pc or a new Ruby version, or just to sync stuff:
gem read
You may dump or read anytime, it won’t duplicate your .gemfile, neither reinstall gems already on the system.
~/.gemfile
Follows bundler syntax:
gem "nokogiri"
gem "what_methods"
But that’s it, to make a only ruby 1.9 group you need:
if RUBY_VERSION > "1.9"
gem "somegem-19"
end
Note on Patches/Pull Requests
-
Fork the project.
-
Make your feature addition or bug fix.
-
Add tests for it. This is important so I don’t break it in a future version unintentionally.
-
Commit, do not mess with rakefile, version, or history. (if you want to have your own version, that is fine but bump version in a commit by itself I can ignore when I pull)
-
Send me a pull request. Bonus points for topic branches.
