MyGem

Rubygem generation, done YOUR way. Utilize and customize gem templates for tiny, medium, or large gems.

Features:

  • Use default templates

  • Create your own templates (or customize the copied defaults to suit your liking)

  • Use placeholders in directory names and file contents (GEM_NAME, GEM_AUTHOR, GEM_DESCRIPTION, etc)

Examples:

# Creates a new 'large' gem template for 'gemname'
$ mygem init gemname --template large

# Creates a default template for 'yummy-cookies' specifying some gem options
$ mygem init yummy-cookies \
  --author 'TJ Holowaychuk' \
  --email '[email protected]' \
  --description 'Does some stuff with yummy cookies'

Templates:

Gem templates are located within ~/.mygem/templates. This allows you to customize the default templates as you like. Currently ships with only the ‘default’, and ‘small’ templates.
