An object is blank if it’s false, empty, or a whitespace string. For example, false, ”, ‘ ’, nil, [], and {} are all blank.

This simplifies

!address || address.empty?

to

address.blank?

Returns:

  • (true, false)

region = params[:state].presence || params[:country].presence || 'US'
